Spokane County Park Service

In the spring of 2006 I began working for the SCPS through a local temp agency.  They led me to believe that it would be a two or three week assignment, but here it is, well over a year later, and I'm still working with the Park Service.  The job is interesting because it is not one of those punch-the-clock-do-your-time-doin'-the-same-ol'-thing jobs.  Every day is a new adventure, doing something fun and exciting somewhere in the vast Spokane County.  It's lunch in the park every day!  That's not to say that it's always a walk in the park though, some of the work that I've done is very labor intensive, like chopping down trees or digging ditches.  Some of it is exciting, like setting fires and hiking through woods.  Some is monotonous, tedious, and not much fun, but the assortment of characters that I get to work with more than compensates for any of the hardships.  Besides, I get to find new places to paint all the time!

I take my watercolours with me almost every day and I try to start at lest a couple every week.  Time doesn't usually permit me to finish them on the spot, so I have to do them over a period of a few days, or I have to take a picture with my digital camera and finish them at home.  Every now and then I carry my oil paint box with me, but only when I know that I'll be at the same location for several days in a row.

Below are some thumbnails of some of the work that I've done.  Larger images of a few of these are also found on other pages.
